Free Tax Prep! Tax Center Open 7th Year!

money falling into handCRPIC’s free Tax Center to help low and moderate income families file their federal and MA state taxes opened in January for its 6th season! Last year we helped over 400 families and we are hoping to serve even more this year. The Tax Center is part of the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program created to help people file their taxes correctly and for free. Our preparers are all IRS-certified to ensure your taxes are done right and you get the maximum refund allowed.

The Tax Center is focused on boosting refunds and making sure tax filers are taking full advantage of the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), Child and Dependent Care credits, Child Tax credits, Education, and Retirement credits. We also check for the “Circuit Breaker” credit for MA property owners/renters 65 years old and over, and Energy Efficiency credits for eligible  MA homeowners..

The Tax Center is open 4-8 pm on Thursdays, 10am-6pm on Fridays,  and 10am-6pm on Saturdays at 154 Moody Street in downtown Waltham. Appointments are strongly recommended. For more information on what you need to bring and/or to make an appointment call 781-891-9559, x206.

FundRaise-A-Racquet Event Venue: The Tennis & Racquet Club

The Event Venue: The Boston Tennis and Racquet Club, located in Back Bay, is Boston’s oldest athletic and social club. It is an excellent example of the ornate social clubs of the early 1900’s. Established in 1902, it contains the original court tennis court and is a favorite host of US Court Tennis Association’s (USCTA) tournaments.

money falling into handCRPIC’s free Tax Center to help low and moderate income families file their federal and MA state taxes will be closing on Saturday, April 12th! We have already helped over 300 families, but we still have some appointment slots open for Friday, April 11th and Saturday, April 12th. Call 781-891-9559, x206 to schedule an appointment if you need help filing.

Our preparers are all IRS-certified to ensure your taxes are done right and you get the maximum refund allowed.

This year we also have dedicated computers to help you file your taxes yourself. Our volunteers can get you started and answer questions along the way. If you have a simple return, this is a good option for you.

More SkillStep Computer Classes!

DSC00801 (2)CRPIC’s SkillStep technology classes are running at full force again this Winter/Spring term! We are running classes both during the day and in the evening. This semester our beloved Sonia is teaching two classes in Spanish: one Intro to Computers class and one Intermediate class, and spots in both are at an all time premium. A Beginners class in Creole is also taught in the evening. All computer classes taught in English are nearly full, but because we have volunteer assistants to support the teachers, we can add a few more students to some of the English classes. If you are interested, please call 781-891-9559, x206.  Our SkillStep students are also eligible for our job-readiness workshops and for tutoring help with resumes and job searches.
